Younger Children Are Cautioned
Flash of light
White and bright
Searing to the soul
Lighting crashes in the night
The trees glow with its light
I am lost, afraid, and without hope
Lightning strikes nearby
I run with dread
I crawl in fear
Wishing I was not hear
Lightning lights the night
Dark presences all around
Looking in at me
In the white blaze of the lightning's strike
They disappear as the light recedes
And I am left alone
Lightning thunders over head
Striking nearby trees
I hear the tearing of their limbs
As the monster trees meet their fate
Lighting lances about me
Stabbing in the night
I feel its heat on my neck
It drives me to the ground
Lighting explodes about me
Earth flies through the air
As the power touches the ground
I lay there weeping in the dirt
White light burns around me
I know that I am lost
The light falls away
But not before I saw
The dark things are here
Waiting for a meal
I cannot move my legs
I am paralyzed with fear
I hear them coming
I smell them draw near
Lighting surges through me
White fire burning deep inside
The ground explodes beneath me
Creating a pit six feet deep
I fall in, crumpled and burnt
But still alive
I twisted as I fell
Landing on my back
Far off lighting fills the sky
Cat eyes reflect that light
I see them looking down at me
Lightning crashes close by
I see the smoke from my burnt clothes
Swirl about their bodies
Their nostrils flair when they smelled my seared flesh
My time here is up
They leap from the ledge
Landing in my pit
Lighting flashes and I see them
I see their saliva
Dripping from their fangs
Demons hungry for my flesh
Lightning strikes closer still
A tree ignites by that lancing fire
I see their heads bent low
I feel the tips of their fangs
My skin dimples in with the pressure of their claws
Slowly they start to bite
They savor every moment
The burning tree falls over
Flaming wood falls in my pit
THe demons look to flee
But the fire hems them in
Burning them with its red anger
The dead fall on top of me
One falls by my head
Its lips brush my cheek as it dies
Revulsion fills me inside
The head lays next to me
Its flesh touching mine
I turn my head to look at his
I see a smile on its twisted face
Happy with its dying pain
Smoke entombs my pit
The dead fill my nose
I breath deep the air of death
Satisfied of how I ought to die
My attackers lay sprawled about me
Death greets me then
Like lightning
But the light never fades
